Well, I decided from the start that I wanted to build a MEU SOC clone with my 1911. Now of course, it is not built by the Marine Gunsmiths, nor is it really to spec, but it's a clone afterall.

I started off with the standard GI RIA 1911
    then added:
    -1 piece guiderod
    -Surefire 310r
    -Commander style Hammer
    -Ambi Thumb safety

I still need to find better grips and a beavertail grip safety. I have on the way, a Ed Brown Bushing, and a Wilson trigger.

    Here are the pics:

Is that an RIA slide lock? You're going to need a mainspring housing with a lanyard loop next. And a Wilson magazine and hex grip screws. Good start.

I'm doing the same thing to my Norinco-I need sites and ambi-safety and I'll be done.

It is the Surefire slide lock. The wilson mags will be here soon enough as will the new mainspring housing.

It's a great pistol to shoot.

for the grips I think I'd get the VZ tactical diamonds or look on ebay for some Kimber Desert Warrior style grips.

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't start out with the highest quality gun, but I wanted to fit all the parts myself and I didn't want to **** up a $2K gun.

Do the MEU SOC pistols have a FLGR? -or was that simply something you wanted?

I wanted it. Not sure if they have them. I might remove it, we'll see.

MEU(SOC) 1911s do not have a FLGR. Standard plug and spring.
