When I go to a drop down menu that brings up "My Computer."

It scans my removable CDROM and Floppy drives, thus it takes AGES to open. What should I do?

I just saw this earlier today. Running AVG, by any chance?!?

If not, what AV app is installed?

    Grant: XP.

Fast: I believe so. I'm fairly sure that Zone Alarm Pro uses it.

Nope, ZA and AVG are made by different companies.

You ARE running an anti-virus app, right?!

The new 'improved' AVG 7.0 Free from Grisoft has been doing this sort of thing to my customers left and right lately.
So have McAfee and Norton, but they have always sucked...

Maybe the AVG 7.0 Pro version doesn't do this?!? Who knows...but that would be Standard Corporate American Business practices, now wouldn't it?

I have always preferred AVG, and Avast was always a close runner-up; that has temporarily flip-flopped and I now install AVAST! as a first choice....and I install AVG rarely now, and that will continue until they get the new engine to play nice with XP.

Check to see what anti-virus you have installed; if you don't have one, or if you aren't sure it is completely updated then GO HERE IMMEDIATELY. NOW.

    Good luck,
