I'm trying to fix my mother-in-laws printer issues, but I'm stumped. She was having problems with the printer not being able to communicate with the computer. I deleted the printer in the control panel and unstalled the software that came with it. Then I reinstall the software which also reinstalled the printer. Now when I click print in whatever test software I use, it brings up the print setup window and then when you hit ok, it proceeds to want to fax the thing you are trying to print. The printer is hooked up through a usb port. Could the item that was previously on the usb port be a fax and it is still installed there or something?

Control Panel -> Printers/Faxes. Right click on the printer and choose "set as default".
