Has anyone spotted a stripped AR lower at a gun show recently (post Sandy Hook)? I'm wondering how much they're going for. Naturally the price will vary by manufacturer, but I'm just curious - wondering how much cash I might need to bring with me.

Anything over $150 and I'd wait.

As will all things, this too, shall pass.

No one here can tell you what you are going to find at a gun show, in the future, in your area.

Grab a handful of money and go.

The last couple I seen here in MI at a gunshow were Rock River and they were 600 bucks.

I think you will find better values on GunBroker even though some are going to be outrageously priced, Gun Shows in my area at least have never been the place to find good deals

    Stripped.

That seems to be what they peaked at here.
I snagged two lowers just three days after the last mass shooting for 138 a piece. I had a friend that offered me 600 for one of mine.

While I could have made a quick buck myself. I did not.

Get an idea of want you want. Look it up on the internet like Bud's and get a few prices to compare. Pick a couple of local guns stores and find out when they get their shipments. Get there at opening during the week and you may get lucky. I have talked to a couple of people that have recently purchased guns at big box stores such as Academy sports (may not be in your area) They purchased a Bushmaster M-4 optics ready for approx $1,000. I'm not sure what the price was prior. One guy later called the store to complain that it didn't have any sites. He was advised it was optics ready. He is a guy caught in the panic and bought a rifle he knows nothing about. Prior to that he purchased a used Ruger ranch for $900 and felt good about it. I know walmart had the Colts for approx $1090. A rural store in OH would carry rifles. It would not hurt to look at a gun show. I would not pay a heavily inflated price. If you don't have an AR now, it's not that important in my opinion. Don't get caught in the panic.

Yeah, maybe two and a half months ago.
With the panic buying now. The chance of finding a good gun for a decent price are pretty slim. You would have to find a back water gun shop that the world forgot about with no Internet connection.

I have seen even the cheap ass Bushmaster Carbon 15 rifles priced at 1900 bucks.
Finding something at a gunshow will be even harder. There you will find everyone and their uncle selling the guns at 2 to 3 times their original MSRP. The last show I went to that had the 600 dollar stripped lowers and 1900 dollar plastic Bushmasters also had a few 4000 dollar Colts.

Now I am not against buying a Colt, but for 4K that bastard better be made from solid silver at the least.

Went to the gun show in west palm beach yesterday. Saw lowers from $375-750.

Prices on rifles were still high as well.

    Ammo prices were equally ridiculous

My FFL had 2 guys get into a bidding war over the one he had. He wound up selling it for $580.

I was never much interested in putting a rifle together before and always just bought full rifles. The trend today seems to be flattop guns which I don't care much for. I had planned on getting a lower to build a gun to my specs, but I was going to wait until I went to Camp Perry this year.

The pres D-bag winning the election I decided to get a second one. Then with the lanza monster I had to move my time table up. For the most part dealers here haven't tried to screw gunowners much. That seems to be the gunowners doing that to other gunowners

My favorite dealer pretty much sold out stock at normal prices until it was gone. They did however limit magazines to people that were buying the guns though. Gunshows have been a gunowner rape fest though.

The last Gibraltar Trade Center show I went to a few weeks ago had 2 no name lowers for $500 a piece.

I wouldn't pay the much for a complete lower, let alone a stripped lower.

Wow, sounds like the gun show prices for stripped lowers are out of control. I've been watching Gunbroker too, and prices there aren't as bad. I may end up buying one of those.

  16. Got a local dealer here refusing to sell at hagh prices. I picked up a stripped lower for $135.

posted from my stupid smart phone, please excuse any spelling mistakes.

I just went to a gun show in KC,MO this weekend and the cheapest lower I saw was going for $250. Billeted lowers with upper receivers were being sold as sets for $460.

    Insane....

That's actually not that horrible for billet sets. Even pre-panic, good ones were upwards of $250 for a lower, and $150-200 for uppers.

Really? I never really paid attention to billet sets. Interesting.

I did find a polymer lower for $175 lol.

What I couldn't believe was a trigger, hammer, or disconnector- your choice- $25 EACH....

Yeah, I'd pay $460 for a matching billet upper/lower in a heatbeat. I watched a few sets end on GunBroker for close to $1000 just a few weeks ago.
