"According to court documents, Keller had been preparing for "the end of the world" and had stockpiled weapons and food in the woods."

It's over, they just found his body. So much for prepping.

Serious question. Couldn't they just gas the underground bunkers of most preppers if required? Seem more like graves than fortifications to me.

Funny part is they don't know if the explosives killed him while in his bunker...to me that spells bunker fail

Flood him....test his drainage system. Diable any exterior ventilation. Use smoke to reduce oxygen levels, gas mask won't help that.

Why is it necessary to get him out? In what way is he a risk to anyone? Seems it would make a lot more sense to simply let him fiddle in his little hole in the ground until he has had enough. Then, if he wants to come out peacefully... fine. Let him. If he wants to come out to attack someone, then let police officers deal with him like they would someone robbing a convenience store, etc. Unless he has committed a crime, etc., can't see any reason why it is necessary to seek to force him to surrender to anyone.

It is a sad story. The guy must have flipped. I feel for the family. As stated. To bad he didn't just do himself in.

Now, for those of you with a bunker like this. You better have a hidden exit somewhere else. If things go south. One entrance kinda means your done.

In my world I think it is unreasonable to think that someone who just killed his family is "not a risk" and should not be immediately apprehended. I also think it would be improper to require LE to simply wait for who knows how long until he is ready to surrender.

Keep police tied up monitoring his hovel 24/7 in case he decides to come out? Better to pump it full of Nitrogen.
