Not the worst Emergency Radio you can buy. Just got one for my father in law the down side being without some "creative" electrical work with it, it will not accept regular aa or aaa batteries. Just crank and solar. That being said it has the weather bands and is half of what we paid for his.

Looks like the Goal Zero solar charger 7-watt kit with power pack is a good price right now, two sources:

Costco, search for "Goal Zero Portable Solar Power Essentials Kit" for $110 (this is the "Plus" 1.0A version)

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

    and

looks like Amazon dropped their prices to undercut. They were selling for $120 at Amazon but now $91. Called the "Goal Zero Guide 10 Adventure Kit." It is the non-plus .5A version.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Goal-19006-Guide-Adventure-Batteries/dp/B004OHIYLW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334257158&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Goal Zero 19006 Guide 10 Adventure Kit with 4 Goal Zero AA Batteries: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41aRjAjw8sL.@@AMEPARAM@@41aRjAjw8sL[/ame]

I think the Costco "plus" is the same as GZs kit sold here for $160:

    http://www.goalzero.com/shop/p/79/Guide-10-Adventure-Kit/1:1/

Here's a link to a video. Again, skip the top link and go to the one in the black box below.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/mJ5G3YGXXO3AE/ref=ent_fb_link"]Amazon.com : Learn More About Goal Zero Guide 10 Adventure Kit@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81ST1qxrjML.@@AMEPARAM@@81ST1qxrjML[/ame]

EDIT: The "plus" (or lack thereof) refers to the amperage out for the battery pack, ie, the "Guide 10 Power Pack" part of the kit. They come in .5A output (no plus) and 1.0 output (plus) versions. According to GZ's CS, the 1.0A was built for people who wanted to charge their tablet devices. Whereas the .5A is built for recharging cellphones. More or less. Even CS seemed to be hazy on exactly what the 1.0A would do for you beyond "that's what you need for an iPad."

I'm suspicious that GZ is shifting over to all "PLUS" because of iPad demand. I don't even find the Guide 10 Adventure Kit on GZ's website in a non-plus version. This may be why these are on sale?

Whether you'd want .5A or 1.0A output is your call...I want to charge eneloops (factory charger does .3A for 4) and a smartphone that wants .5A, so for me, I think the older .5 non-plus is best. YMMV.

IIRC, iPad wants 2 amps, will charge slowly at 1A.
    iPhone wants 1 amp.

Sounds correct. Since posting discovered that the .5A is dodgy for an iPhone4, it really wants 1A, and the iPad won't do anything with .5A.

Nice price! Unfortunately to my AO it's + $7 shipping. Might be worth it with a recommendation that they're quality... Have you tried these, can verify they don't leak?

Just ordered them for first time, myself... I will give them some good testing when I get them.

I ordered two sets (total of 4 bottles) to make the shipping worth it.

Cabelas has the Discontinued MSR Wisperlite International Stove on sale for only $60. This "International" version of the stove burns white gas, unleaded gasoline, or Kerosene. MSR upgraded the legs to stamped steel for 2012, so Im guessing Cabelas bought a bunch of lasts years stock. Other camping stores are still selling this 2011 version for the full $90.

I would not be worried about it being discontinued, as MSR is still selling parts to maintain stoves they sold decades ago. They are also good at sending replacement parts at no charge for my MiniWorks water filter. I do not own the stove, so I cant really comment about performace, but so many others seem to love the things.

The ability to burn unleaded gas, and kerosene are what I like it, and the stove is somewhat backpackable.

$60 seems like a steal to me...too bad Im broke for a few weeks.
