Has anyone here heard of & used PPU brand ammo? I saw some of this at Wal-Mart the other day in both .40S&W and 9mm. I bought a box of it in 9mm because they didn't have any other brand. Haven't fired it yet, but was wondering what the general opinion and experience is with it. Made in Serbia I believe. Thanks. :wavey:

I shot some 9mms before. Worked OK, nothing special to rave about.

I use Privi Partisan in 7.5 Swiss, it's been very good ammo and easier on the gun vs GP11 stuff.

I love PRVI, it's one of my favorite brands. It's cheap, clean and plenty accurate for range work.

I started using it in my PPK/s, when Federal's flat nose was causing feeding issues. The round nose has fed perfectly for years. Now Federal, Winchester and PRVI are now my most common range ammo.

I've shot their 10mm JHP which is priced better than other FMJ on the market. Its about average, maybe a little under pressures of others.

Love their 300 Win Mag for the brass for reloading. Burns clean very reliable etc. Same goes for 7.62x39 though this is loaded a little warmer than Tula Wolf etc great for the SKS.

I have fired some in 7.65x53 Argentine with zero problems. It was clean shooting with quality brass.

I picked up some last week from WM. Went to the range sat. and shot some along with Fed. and Blazer Brass. The PPU seemed to be a little weaker than the other two. I had a few go over my head through my Gen 4 17 and LC9. All the Fed. and BB went to the right.

Someone told me PPU is the same ammo AS sells as Monarch.

Prvi Partizan is now labeling it's boxes PPU. Maybe they thought people would assume that Serbian ammo was inferior so they went with a more generic name.

Pretty sure the brass was always marked PPU.
I'm glad they offer it in the calibers they do.

Good to know. Likewise, Walmart was down to PPU in 9mm. I had a nice conversation with a lady buying it, but neither of us had heard of it before.

If you have ever bought the Monarch brand from Academy, then you have shot PPU. Its decent stuff, I have shot alot of it in the last few years.

If any of you old timers remember "Hanson" brand ammo it was reboxed PPU. Hanson was around in the 1980's and 1990's. Hanson bought for foreign surplus and foreign commerial ammo and reboxed it.

I didn't say otherwise. I am referring to the name on the cardboard box which was always sold as Prvi and about 2 years ago switched to PPU.

PPU is a military grade ammo that whole ex Yugoslavia was using as their primary brand for mil and le use. After **** went down, now box says made in Serbia, cuz thats where the factory is and its still first class ammunition. I see it here more and more. Since the local manuf. can't supply the demand :wavey:
