For someone getting some additional mags which would you suggest. Gen 2 or gen 3 pmag? I not sure I care about the window but I kinda would like the dark earth color ones.
    thanks

For regular use either one will be fine. If you plan on dropping them and running over them with cars, get the gen 3. Magpul claims to have strengthened the spine.

If you're going to be the last man standing during TEOTWAWKI and fighting hordes of zombies go with Lancers.

Personally I don't care, both work the same, 100 percent reliable.

I like the FDE windowed P mags the best.

I have had no problems with any generation or color of Pmag. I am still using gen1's after almost 6 years. Remember if the color isn't what you want, you can always paint them (below the magwell level of course).

I don't have a preference to either. They all work fine for me.

I only own one Gen 3, but tons of Gen 2/MOE PMAGs with 4 more on the way. My sole complaint with the Gen 3 design is you can't snap the dist cover onto the base of the magazine. Functionally, though, I have yet to have a serious issue with either.

Gen 3s fit better and are a bit more slimline.

Magpull should streamline their lines and do away with Emags and all M2 Gen2 mags and concentrate on M3 10,20, and 30 rnd mags. Be caught up quicker.

The M2s still have a place in the product line as a less expensive option to the M3s. Also, I think there are still a few rifles that will not work with the M3 PMAG, but do fit the EMAG.

Very new to this, but I'm told some of the cool add ons for three gun only fit Gen 2 mags.
    :dunno:

I think you are referring to the MOE/Gen 2 mags. I just got a few hundred Gen 3's and they all HAVE the dust covers.

Wonder why they did that? That was a cool feature.

BTW, I saw the Midway email for PMAGs in stock today an hour after they sent it. Loooooooong gone. Lol

No... I'm referring to M3. The ones I got were still sealed in their bags, but no covers. Of course, I paid $18/piece and waited 3-months for them...

I have a dozen M2's - all came with covers.

I don't know about the "for three gun" thing, but to my knowledge there are no alternate baseplates for the Gen3 magazines out yet. There are, however, Ranger plates and other magazine baseplates for the Gen2 mags.

I have both. They are both good. There are more options for Gen2 mags (colors, windows, baseplates). The Gen3 should be a little tougher/stronger, and the texture/grip feel is a little different. The stock baseplate on the Gen3 also protrudes less, which is said to be most noticeable if you use two mags in the same double-stack mag pouch.
