HELP!!!! 1994 Jeep Wranger 4cyl. Bogs down, have to lift up on the petal and punch it again. Then bogs down again. Will kill it if i keep my foot on the gas. Downshifting helps sometimes. Happens mostly on highway driving. Also, air filter is oily, and where the airbox mounts to the throtle body is oily. apprx 148,00 miles.

    Whats wrong???

also should mention that it doesnt seem to burn oil. ie oil doesnt go low, no blue smoke, but a friend and i have both smelled burnt oil with riding/driving

Piston rings are worn - oil is leaking past them. Pressure from the cylinders is forcing that oil into the air cleaner/filter.

Other suggestions are good also...bear some looking into.

  8. No-No oil on the air filter is a common problem w/Jeep older jeep vehicles....There's a vacuum line that gets clogged and allows the PCV Hose to suck oil up out of the valve cover, and into the airbox...The bogging problem is non-related, and could be a number of things...Check Fuel Pressure, check codes, do you have larger than stock tires?
