I read an article in Consumer Reports, so I ran a broadband test on my computer and the results were:
    download speed 21795 kbps
    upload speed 5958 kbps
    latency 34ms
    jitter 2ms

    I'm technologically challenged (idiot)
There was a brief description of what the categories mean, but no interpretation of the speed are these decent results?

    Yes, they are decent results.

Download speed over 20000 kbps (20 mbps) is respectable and will allow you to use streaming media without lag.
Upload of 5900 kbps (5.9 mbps) is actually a lot of bandwidth if you are uploading something.

Latency is basically the time it takes for you to send data and receive a response. Think of this like Sonar in a submarine. Ping with an immediate response means that you have a quality connection.

Jitter is also a measure a quality, the lower the number, the higher quality of the signal that you are receiving.

Overall, I would think that unless you are hosting a website from home, this connection will be more than sufficient. If you admittedly are technically challenged, I would be surprised if you need any more bandwidth than what you currently have.

Yes, very good as gemeinschaft said. Personally, I would do unspeakable things for that kind of speed. :)

Well that depends. If you are paying for 20Mbps down and 5Mbps up that's great. However, if you are paying for 25Mbps down and 7Mbps up not so great.

Still it beats my 5Mbps down and .5Mbps up.

I need a new ISP. :crying:
