Just started looking into getting a rig for duty and really don't know much about them. Are there brands to avoid and certain ones that are the "best"? Any/all help is appreciated!

Are you being issued equipment. If so, save your money for awhile. If not, IIIA is what I am issued, and get something that is multi purpose, that is at least spike level 2.

no we are issued soft armor for under uniform shirt, but was looking for a little something extra for calls when i deploy my carbine or shotgun. i think i have it narrowed down between Eagle's LE carrier and TAG Banshee carrier. Found plates pretty cheap at DSG arms looking at around $400 for the carrier and front/rear plates that are level III rated.
