Does anyone know why the Sig P229 Stainless Elite comes with a Plastic Guide rod? Is it because of the weight of the Gun?

You can get some nice stainless steel guide rods for Sig's, starting at these two great places.

Because they're too friggin' cheap to use a $5.00 stainless steel one in a $1,200 pistol.

If I worked for that company, I'd be ashamed at the crap they're doing to the fine name of Sig Sauer.

Thanks. I just put in and order for one for my P229. I picked up three 14 round sig factory mags from CDNN sport, now all I need is for the town to get off there fat azz and type up my permit so I can pick it up. I hate NJ I've been waiting 40 days now

Plastic guide rods in a Sig eh? Everything I've read says it shouldn't/doesn't make a difference. That's reading though and we all know what that's worth. Here's what I do know though. If I had a plastic guide rod in my pistol, I'd go find a metal one, lol.

Bedair is the link I have in my favorites for when I place an order for stainless rods. I've heard good things about his product and speed of delivery. Grey Guns makes a "fat" one (read his site for info). I'd never heard of the 2 Snak3 posted. They look like quality though.
