The same thing they've done to their 500s.. In all essence it's the same gun minus a couple things.. I.e can't change the forend with out the Mossy assembly

    Here is mine:

The plastic piece had me thinking I had no option for any forend customization. Looking up the slide tube was no use ($71). So I whipped out the dremel and cut a hole on the closed part on top of the forend which you can't get to, and drilled two more and bolted a picatinney rail there. Bought a TAPCO handle, then this was the finished product.

Its cheap and basically useless...but it looks cool I guess? The sights are plastic and non adjustable and can be easily broken off. You are correct the rear is just clamped on over the barrel. Would I recommend it? Not at all. Save your money for ammo.

I like the new style forend. Are the arms still cast into the plastic?

I just picked up one last night at Academy sports for $189, not a bad price for a good looking shotgun!

Headed to the range here in a bit to try it out. I'll post some pics when I get back.

I love that old school wood look! I have a set sitting in my parts drawer myself just waiting for a cheap Mav or 500 to come my way. Very classy
