Picked up the new CQB Elite today:

Here are the specs different than the standard CQB Elite build:

    No FCS
    Checkering underneath the trigger guard
    Rear boot sight
    Gold dot front sight
    Extreme dehorn
    Bulletproof upgrade

The pics are not very good but here they are:

Just a standard pics of the new guy:

With it's little brother in .38 Super, the big guy is .45ACP.

With the Wilson Bowie knife, look matching shoes!

Have not shot it yet of course. Fit and finish is excellent as you would expect and the trigger is golden as well. Overall just a beautiful 1911.

As far as the options I ordered the only one I might not do so again is the checkering under the trigger guard. I will see how well it improves handling when I shoot it. The gold bead front sight is outstanding with the boot rear sight, great sight picture, best front sight I have seen on a 1911. The extreme dehorn does not show up well in my pics but in person it is very nice indeed. All and I mean all of the edges are rounded off and it feels great in the hand. The gun has a slightly different look overall due to the dehorn but not so much as to be noticeable unless you look for it.

The FFL I used was a pawn shop and one of the guys there was talking to me while a women filled out some paperwork for the transfer. As we looked at the Wilson he mentioned he was not a 1911 guy because he was too young. He had never heard of Wilson but he did say he liked Kimbers but they were too pricey for him.

Guess he has not price a Wilson.

Very nice. I really like the gold bead front sight. I went with this on my build that is in progress from Mars Armament. Should be ready any day.......

Looks great man. What are the advantages of the gold bead sight? Keep hearing folks mention it. Can you snap a pic of the sight picture with it? Thanks!

    Gold is very reflective Paul.

They show up well, especially outdoors.

Thanks all for the comments :)

Yes the gold captures the light very well and is very quick to capture the eye when sighting in. I would opt into getting the gold bead front sight on future builds without hesitation.

  7. Nice pistols.

I could quite easily be envious of both of those!

    But I won't,

    I won't,

    Like hell I won't!

Just checked the test targets / build sheets from each Wilson. 4 guys worked on the CQB Compact which was test fired on 11/7/07 and 6 guys worked on the CQB Elite which was test fired on 8/5/10. Out of that group 1 gentleman was the same, name of J. Campbell. The final inspection was also completed by the same gentleman named Scott Fisher.

The test shooters were different, but both could shoot lights out

What a horrible job that must be, building and shooting 1911s :wow:

I'd say Valentino Balboni had the best job in the world. Now he is semi-retired and still a consultant.

    Somewhere in the air.
Nice builds. I particularly like the single-side safeties.

  11. Those grips are starting to grow on me. Great looking pistols!
