Well I finally went and did it :) Last Friday I bought an '07 FZ6, I rode it home last night.

Few initial impressions from my first 18 miles:
    - Fuel injection kicks ass. It's incredibly smooth all over the place (that I used, limiting revs to 6000rpm for break in).
    - This thing is definitely taller than my GS500 :) I can flat-foot it no prob, but I could stand up on my GS and not touch the seat. Not so here. The center of gravity feels a bit higher, too. Not an issue, just different.
    - Clutch and trans seem a bit snatchier than my GS. Probably just everything being new and tight coupled with the different "feel" of the new bike.
    - Shift throw and reset feels a lot longer than my GS. That'll take some getting used to, or I may have to adjust the shift lever.
    - My lower legs were noticeably warmer on this bike than my GS, but not uncomfortably so.
    - Even limiting engine speed to 6000rpm, I had no trouble getting away from traffic. Heh, some kid in a Civic kept wrapping his car out trying to keep up with me when pulling away stoplights, I wonder if he thought we were racing? :)
    - The mirrors are actually useful. Neat! :)
    - As much as I like the naked bike look, I think I'm going to like the half-fairing. Pretty much the first thing I did was get on the interstate and run it up to 70mph without even realizing it (mainly driving by RPM). So much less wind blast (and I'm sure twice the horsepower didn't hurt either ;) ). Some people over 6' have complained of helmet buffeting, but I didn't notice any on my short drive. We'll see.

Overall, it just feels smooooooooth. Feels like a very well-built machine.

Beautiful bike! I think the middle weights like this are the optimum in performance and value.

    Sweet looking bike.

It was in the running for me too when I originally planned on buying a new bike.

    Good luck and ride safe,
