    Howdy folks,

I'm purchasing a new Sig P229 E2 9mm next week, and I'm just wondering what your opinions are of the pistol. It's fairly new, about a year or so if I recall correctly. I've never fired a 229 before, but I have owned a 239 and I absolutely loved it. The grip on the new E2's is fantastic. Combined with the short trigger, it really helps me get a better grip on the trigger for my DA firing.

Anyone that owns or has shot a 229 E2, feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine has been great. Very accurate, totally reliable, awesome trigger. It has the short trigger, but also the SRT, which is a VERY short reset. It has everything you need from a combat pistol, right out of the box. I dont think you will be disapointed.

No E2, just a rare non-rail stainless 229ST with a lot of mileage on it. ;)

I should have it this week if I can get to my dealer after work before he closes. I'll be sure to post pics with and without my TLR-1s and do a range report.

From what I've heard, most people are saying exactly what Comedian is saying about the new E2.

    Can't wait!

@ Cobra, let's see pics of that sweet 229 :wavey:

Soooo, why not give yourself and her a 1,600 round challenge in an intensive two day Pistol Operator class shooting steel?

I would love to , but I might be in Florida with work. We run drills down there around that time and need to check the schedule. Great looking gun club btw. You tired of snow yet ?

Hope you get a chance to meet and shoot with you someday. As a bonus, if you make this class, you will meet the best Sig pistolsmith on the planet.

As for the club, I've been working on the pistol range for about a year, and working on two more really large bays for a variety of dedicated pistol shooting disciplines, steel included.

Snow? Hell I've lived in CO and Upstate NY, so these dustings are not a problem.

Took this to the range today. This gun is freakin' sweet. The new grip with the base plate curl fits my hand like a glove. The recoil is very soft, in fact hardly felt at all. The SRT kit gives the pistol a great short reset for the following round. I'll have to get used to the sight picture a little. From what I've read, you need to put the sights right on what you want to shoot, I'm used to aiming a little low, but that's no biggie.

I'll have some pictures up soon!

Does the revised grip make it easier to conceal compared the standard P229?

I always thought the standard 229 grips were a little chunky (for me) because I have small hands. I'm used to concealing a Glock 19 (IWB appendix and OTW leather) and this seems just a tad less comfortable. I believe this is due to the higher mounted sights and the hammer. Other than that, it's pretty much the same for me.

It carries the same as my 229/40sw but grips a whole lot better.

What holster are you guys running with this ? I have a leather galco that will fit very tight. A blackhawk paddle would not fit. I'm wondering what options there are since rail is different and slide a tad thicker

I think it's due to the slide being close to the P228 than the P229. The slide rail on a P229 runs the length of the pistol and P229e2 and P228 don't which it makes it tight on the top of the holster. My P229 40sw Milt Sparks VM2 holster works but I'm going to have one made for it from this Sigforum member...http://www.rgrizzleleather.com/index.html

Nice. I like the 228-style slide on this gun.

I have a 9mm P229 SAS and love it. It took some work to get acquainted with the trigger after two decades of using a Glock, but now it's second nature and easy to shoot. I have large hands so the standard grip size is no obstacle for me.

Am I correct in believing that the standard 9mm 228/229 magazines will fit the E2 but the E2 mags will not fit the 9mm 228/229?

Yes, your correct. The standard 229/228 mags fit but they are looser due to Sig using .40 frames on all the P229 E2’s. The standard 9mm magazines are smaller in circumference. Sig made a 9mm magazine with a .40 magazine tube for the E2’s.

I've put in 3 10 round 9mm mags so far, and they all feel like they were made for the gun.
