Well, here she is. I picked up the Ruger SR1911 that's been sitting at my LGS for the last three weeks. As I've stated before, at $600, this 1911 is a deal. Of course, I haven't had it to the range yet, but all the reports I've seen have been great. Other than the beavertail to frame fitting being a bit sloppy, I'm impressed with everything about the gun. There is very little to no slide to frame movement, there is no stupid firing pin safety at all, the mainspring housing is steel (unlike many in this price range or even above), the finish is even, the small parts look good, the rollmarks are well done, the hammer and Ed Brown-esque grip safety look great, the Novak sights are large and easy to see, the grips are grippy and attractive, there are no front serrations, and the Dan Wesson-like three hole trigger is crisp. There really isn't much not to like about the SR1911. Some may not like the black controls against the matte stainless slide and frame, but its not a big deal for me. Here are some pics... ...yes, it comes in a cardboard box. Here's something you don't see everyday. This gun comes with a flush fitting 7-round mag and an 8-round mag with the base plate. It comes comes with a small soft case inside the box (which is more than you get with Les Baer. ) Wanna kill these ads? We can help!
