Note the hitchhikers on my right arm and jersey in this pic.

For non-desert folk, those prickly green things are cholla cactus segments. This picture was taken last weekend, at the 1st Round of the "AMA National Hare Scrambles Series", held at Mammoth, AZ.

I happened to hit that cactus at about 30 MPH, which left needles buried 1/2"+ in my bicep. I'm still displaying some good bruises. I did eventually have to stop and remove some of the cactus (using a race marker), because the pain was pretty intense.

    I did race a CR500, last year. It was a 2001 CR500R, but it wasn't a good harescrambles bike.

My current bike is a factory Kawasaki endurocross bike, a 2005 KX250. I bought it about a month ago from local Kawasaki pro off-road rider Destry Abbott.

Go here: http://www.destryabbott.com/ If you click on [photos], my bike is identical to the ones shown in many of the pictures (Factory pro riders get a lot of bikes. Destry gets 10 KX450F's this year alone.)

I'm still sporting the same Honda red gear and homemade carbon fiber handguards.
