...and looking to add a holographic sight. I've narrowed the field down to either the EOTech 512 or the XPS2-0. Having a hard time making up my mind too. This is not going to be an active duty weapon, but more for occasional range use and home protection. Opinions/comments welcomed! Also who has the best prices for EOTechs?

    TIA

I think Stags are a good rifles, and great rifles for what they cost.

The only Eotech I own I got in the "bargain cave" at Cabelas and the only thing I could tell was wrong with it is one of the knobs does not give a distinct click when you rotate it. Most places I have seen Eotechs were at close to or full retail price.

    I love my stag.

How set are you on a eotech?

Aimpoint is comming out with the new PRO.
    http://www.gunblog.com/aimpoint-pro/

Looking at 400 out of pocket, the 440 is MSRP!

400 bucks for a optic you can leave on 24/7 for three years, water proof to 150ft and comes already set up so all you do is toss it on your rifle? Phew...I dont even need one and I might buy one lol.

p.s. If you are a no go on the PRO, I would go XPS2-0.

    When is it hitting stores?

My XPS has served me well. This new Aimpoint sounds interesting though. Id look into availability on the Aimpoint before you make a decision.

I have a EOtech 512 on my Stag 2TL and really like it! Easy to adjust, holds a zero, and plenty of brightness settings.

I also own a Stag 2 and a 512 even though not together on the same gun.. I love them both my 512 is currently on a DTI mid length and my Stag 2 has 1 to 4 optics... They both work flawless...

I think the Stag 2 and the EoTech 512 make a great combo. I have this setup myself. I purchased the Optic locally so I'm sure I didn't get the best price but I was able to support a local business which I like to do.

Well you just missed out on the factory rebate from Eotech. They were running for several months at the end of 2010.

But since you asked, here you go. http://www.opticsplanet.com/ Way to many to chose from at this site.

I would only get the Eotech that runs the 123 lithium batteries.

The main reason not to get the AA battery version is the difference in size. The AA is a larger battery and the size of the Eotech has to account for this. The 2nd thing I like about the Lithium battery is that they last longer and also go in 2 of my Streamlight flashlights. So keeping them all the same is nice. It also seems that resale value on the Lithium versions are a little higher.

On a side note I would also suggest to get the model with the buttons on the side and not in the back. If you ever want to upgrade to night vision or the magnifier this is a must. With the NV or magnifier on you would not be able to access the buttons when they are on the back of the sight.

The NV version is only a must if you are ever going to use NV with it.
