Was browsing my local shop a few days ago and saw a brand new Kimber Eclipse sitting in the 1911 case and after handling it for about 15min I just had to have it. Didn't plan on buying one, just a spur of the moment. I really like the fixed factory Night sights which are made by Meprolight.

Picked it up today and changed the awful plastic MSH with a Nighthawk custom MSH w/magwell and got rid of the worthless full length guide rod that I replaced with a Ed Brown GI style rod and Wilson Combat flat non-checkered cap. Everything else is staying 100% stock.

Range report will defiantly be up after I get back from shooting it. I wasn't looking for one but always liked the Eclipse color scheme. The grips and front checkering are perfect. I usually want to change out this or that on 1911s but except for getting rid of plastic or useless parts it seems just right to me as is.

Just got back from the range. Accuracy was pretty good using Federal ball and PDX-1 both in 230gr.I would put it at about 2-3" groups. Mags used where Colt 8rd, Wilson Elite 8rd, Wilson 47D 8rd, Imitation Chip McCormick 8rd and a 7rd Act mag. Zero malfunctions using all mags or ammo in 200rds.

Accuracy was not as good as my Ultra Carry II but I might have to chuck it up to not shooting a 1911 in awhile. Shooting 2-3" groups was kinda disappointing considering I know I can do much better with a 1911. Last 10 times I've gone to the range I've been shooting either Glocks, pocket autos or revolvers so I'm kinda out of the 1911 routine. When the last 10 range sessions where 1911s it was a different story. [IMG] I'm very please with the 100% reliability and accuracy will be better once I get the plastic pistols out of my system again.

Congrats! I have always thought that the Eclipse is a beautiful pistol. I have been wanting one, and I hear they are running them in 10mm again in Dec. hmm...

15 and 25 yards. I used to be able to shoot tiny groups with any 1911 I owned when it was what I shot the majority of the time. I've been shooting to many guns lately that are double action or the like. All shots where off hand. I've never bothered to use a rest with any handgun.
