Can someone tell me which serial # takes precedence on a Glock parts pistol that has a different # on the slide and barrel than it has on the frame on the frame:dunno:I've never run into this before and I'm stumped.

By law the serial number on the frame is the serial number of the gun.

Technically, barrels and slides don't even have to have serial numbers, IIRC.

As Marc said... the one on the frame is the one that matters.

I could sell you a Glock that had a Lone Wolf barrel in it.... they don't even have serial numbers. Or a Glock with a LW barrel AND a LW slide, they don't have serial #s either. Perfectly legal.

I really appreciate the input but the whole thing is puzzling to me.
Frame number makes sense to me but what I'm curious about is how it happens? An attempt to move a stolen pistol or some other anomaly? Other than someone having 2 pistols apart and putting the wrong frame and slide together? Any ideas?

Glock stamps unique serial numbers on replacement barrels and slides. Sometimes folks buy used factory slides or barrels, even frames.

I sent a pistol back to Glock on a recall and got back a frame that had a different serial number. I also have a Glock 22 that was won in a golf tourney as a prize that was donated by Glock and the frame and slide numbers to not match. I think it was a red label pistol. Shoots good though. Modified with LWD 40/9 barrel.Stay safe!
