Found a Para Super Hawg (Long slide) toady at a local gun shop and really liked the look and feel. I am not familiar with para and how they rate as a 1911 manufacture. Anyone with para and/or Super Hawg comments/
    Thanks.

Overall, my opinion is that Para is below average.

...just not as bad as Taurus.

There are a lot of people that own Paras and have had great luck with them but I wouldn't buy one. Just too many other choices that I think would work out better in the long run.

I have had great luck with my Para's. I have not had such good luck with the Colts I used to have. Springfield is another good company to deal with but they do not make a stainless hi-cap, nor a longslide hi-cap.

The year Para introduced P14 Limited my mom gave it to me as a birthday present. Absolutely great gun. It shot circles around any 1911 that the local ranges had for rent at a time. I've replaced mag springs with Wolff.

3,200 rounds and counting on my 2001 P14 Limited. No failures, except for a batch of underpowered handloads. Nothing has broken, original spring, and I've embarassed a few Wilson Combat and Kimber shooters at the range. :)

Now that they are made in the US, I am curious if the snobbery will continue.

Some have had good luck with Para, I have not. My Para was one of only two guns that I got rid of b/c I could not trust it to do it's job. Lots of FTEs/FTFs and the finish starting coming off during the first trip to the range.
