I work security at a medical marijuana shop in the city of L.A.
I don't use marijuana and am a member of the Republican party. Needless to say it's rare for a conservitive to be in this type of environment. I've worked at a number of these shops and have insight that few of the experts who talk about this subject matter have. About three weeks ago the shop that I was at got a new business tax certificate, which was a few days after the city voted to close all medical marijuana shops down???. That week the shop sent in $10,000 in taxes to the city of L.A. I can say that the shop that I work at has never had a incident of anykind, which has been three years. I can also say that I have never witnessed any crime at any of the shops that I have worked at, so much for these places being crime magnets.
Today we received a letter to close by 9/6/12, we also got our new business license at the same time. ?????????:faint:

Especially when they can buy "protection" for 10,000 dollars.

Of course you never get to see the folks using their "oh, so hard to get" card selling the weed to someone else to buy meth or other street drugs,

No, I deal with facts not assumptions. Why does anyone need security? Security 101, security is about protecting assets, and the prevention of crime and mitigation of loss.

Well, I'm assuming that nobody hires a security guard unless they think they should hire one. I mean unless, something like, "Oh, I mispoke the other day and accidently hired a security guard, even though I really don't need one."

So, without security, they would have had crime, and had lost assets? Or is security for these guys just another racket you got lucky enough to get in on?

Most security is just an illusion and if that illusion is kept up it makes everybody happy.

I have to assume you never lock the door to your house, because I'm sure anybody who doesn't understand the concept of protecting merchandise from theft doesn't have any use for locks.

But you're only pretending not to understand, aren't you? Don't worry, as unwelcome as ESI Agent's observations are to "traditional" Republican thought, and as hostile as "traditional" Republicans are to anybody who doesn't slavishly adhere to their monolithic belief system, I'm sure you won't have to deal with "rogue" Republicans much longer, or any Republicans, for that matter, as those with minds of their own flee the party in droves.

And people wonder why the republican party is shrinking into irrelevance.

    To the OP;

I hope the posts of gundude and bws, help ypu understand why there exists a certain amount of scepticism on some topics. It seem that there are some of the left leaning persuaision who insist on running around poking at Republicans, or those they perceive to be Republicans at every opportunity.

Since you alone were the only person to make mention of your political affiliation, you can see how these liberal attack dogs pounced upon the thread to interject some anti-Republican political spin.

They are tiresome but it has been suspected that. possibly, some have come here to start threads merely to get comment from someone that would open the door for them to come in with their tirades.

Even your well intententioned thread, and their interjecting politics into it, could be misconstrued as one of those attempts, and they merely got impatient waiting for someone else to mention your political affiliation.

Shame on those who turn threads political! Don't they know there's a place specifically for that kind of stuff?

Funnyy that you didn't choose to latch on to the point of the OP's post and that it was a Democrat controlled local Government that caused the problem.

Of course that wouldn't be of interest to you as long as you could make up a way to take a shot at Republicans.

Do I have to do all the work around here? :tongueout:

Funny how the Republicans here would rather take a shot at other Republicans instead of mentioning it themselves.

you're making one of us look like an ignoramus.

  18. So what’s the point of this thread is it about LA government being messed up no surprise or is it about security guards and if we feel like we need them?

I am avidly against illegal drugs but until we get hard core in every aspect of dealing with the drug problem it is here to stay. Personally I think marijuana is probably no worse than alcohol but it is illegal and the use makes you a criminal and you should be treated like one. The only exception is for medical treatment and I don’t mean the medical marijuana cards that you can buy from unethical doctors. Sadly due to drug abusers a treatment for people with medical conditions (not addictions) is abused. The problem is not drugs it is the drug pushers and abusers deal in a fast and final manor and it will greatly reduce illegal drugs. You traffic in drugs and or use them you get a fast trial and a short trip to meet your maker and it will be a big step to finding a solution.

Yeah, we could run around killing everyone associated with drugs  or we could try something way less violent and has proven success.

  20. We could just forget about right and wrong, legal and illegal start dreaming of the day we live in the land of unicorns and rainbows. I have zero sympathy for drug addicts or dealers and the pain that comes from their stupid choices.
