You have likely answered this one before--just point me to thread.

If not, can you suggest anything about being on the phone with a police dispatcher while forced entry by a bad guy(s) to the home is happening? This also assumes the home owner is armed to attempt to stop a threat.

    thanks

Stay on the line. Have technology to keep the communication as hands-free as possible. Don't get bogged down with dialogue with the dispatcher -- you have to stay alert and focused on the situation you're dealling with -- but keep the dispatcher informed of any changes on your end, such as sounds that indicate the intruders are leaving, etc. Ask the dispatcher to update you when officers arrive: you want to know if that's a cop you hear at the back door, or the home invader's accomplice.

It goes without saying, don't utter anything that sounds like macho blather. Let common sense be your guide.

This would be an excellent thread for you to start in Cop Talk, to get lots of police input.
