Hello, folks. I'm new here and this is my first post. It's time to clean out some stuff in the safe and I came across a G 17L, SN DB78X US. Bought it new in 88 I think. I had a Burris red dot put on it, bought a couple 33 round mags and went shooting. After 700 rounds or so, I got my attention diverted to a new toy, put the long gun back in the box with all the original parts and papers and forgot it. It never went back to Glock, still has the ported barrel and original trigger parts. I was wondering if it has any collector value and what other information I would have to locate to determine what that value might be. The gun is very complete with original box, cleaning kit, etc.

I tried to post a picture of the box, but I'm not sure if I did it right.

I've learned more about Glocks reading posts on this site than any other source I can find.

Congrats on your very first post...

Been sittin' in the safe, unnoticed, for 23 years?

Burris red dot mounted onto a First-Gen 17L, eh?

...and a couple of 33-round mags, back in 1988, you say?

Didn't forget it, just had other interests. (Divorce, move, remarry, job and such)
Red Dot is a Simmons, not a Burris.

Large cap mags were purchased about 3 months after the 17 at a hardware/gun store in Groton, CT near the submarine base where we were working. I have the receipts.

I've got 3 other hi cap 9s and thinking about thinning them out.

Post some photos for us to enjoy--then take it directly to the range and enjoy shooting the center of your target out  Have Fun

All I see is a picture of a box. It's value is most likely LESS than that of a brand spankin NEW G-17L.

I had a brand new un-fired Gen 3 17L at least til I got it home. Now it's definately fired. Excellent gun and got me hooked on long slides. Now I own 4. One is a 6inch 45, one is 6inch 357sig and 2 9mm's. I ask you sir, how can you NOT fire that gun??? They are absolutely fantastic....

Well sir, I certainly understand that. I am fortunate enough to have a full 100 + yard range right behind my house so the sun never sets on a new purchase without being fired. Best of luck on your 17L cause I know first hand you will love it.........Have a great day.

Hell yeah! Collector value? That thing would have all kinds of collector value.

If it would only join my collection...
