It's not just lead. We're becoming increasingly dependent on other countries to supply us with rare earth metals that are vital to defense, electronics and a number of things our lives depend on. China now controls 97% of rare earth metals production.

The EPA is just another weapon Obama is using to diminish the US to a third-world banana republic.

What do you consider excessive? You must be a younger person who was not around before the EPA started saving lives.
  4. The obama creates more employment opportunities for Chinese workers.

We need to stop complaining about what the clown and his fools are doing it makes his moron followers angry.
  5. Yeah...

    The forum MO is hilarious.

Toss out a story that's not even remotely related to Obama. In fact, it's not even really about the EPA. Then blame Obama for baby seals getting clubbed or some such.

I mean, the dude's done enough questionable s**t that you could hit him on legit stuff if you had any sort of real research skills but that'd require work.

Businesses make decisions to stay in certain markets for a variety of reasons. As a rule, they don't disclose most of these to anyone but their board usually.

These guys are pulling a spotted owl here. They're probably shutting down an unprofitable wing of the company and using the EPA as a scapegoat so they can continue to garner public support.

If they've known about a need to be compliant over the last couple of decades and have done nothing to work towards that then it's pretty obvious they weren't planning on seriously complying. Maybe they were hoping a Republican admin would repeal the legislation.

The Clean Air Act is decades old. It's not like this just snuck up on anyone.

The vast majority of lead in this country is recycled, not smelted from ore. There are plenty of secondary smelters and recyclers operational. There's plenty of lead-acid batteries imported to keep us well stocked on lead for decades to come, if not more.

    You can stop panicking now.
