;+ ;+ First fish of the season!

For the last 10 years, I've been chasing smallmouths on the lower half of the Tippecanoe river, with excellent results. But I've always wanted to try the upper half.

Took a vacation day monday, and had a trip arranged with a canoe outfitter to shuttle me and my boat up river so I could float back.

slow start. nothing for an hour. river is a litle skinny up there. started thinking I should have fished my home waters. then I hooked this smally. hooked it with my main 'confidence lure', big double bladed spinnerbait with chartuese painted blades. ;)

    my attitude changed.;)

she was feeding big time. this pic shows the tail of a previous fish.

all in all, a good day. ;f landed another 7 smallys that went from 1&1/4lb to 2&1/2lb.

only drawback was no pike. not many in Indiana but there are some in that area. was hoping to hook one or two. maybe next trip.;)

also, thanks to the good folks at Riverside canoe rentals.

as mentioned though, I used my Coleman Crawdad.
