night scope

    Anyone have much experience with night vision rifle scopes?
    I have a Gen. 2 monocular that can see really well.. but I really need a rifle scope..
    I have not used a Gen 1 image device before...
    A gen 2 scope runs $2,000 to $5,000 but I can get a Gen 1 scope for less than $600 ...
    Is a Gen 1 scope worth getting? or should I just save up to get a Gen 2 or 3 ?
    or is the price just hype, and a Gen 1 will work ok?

    I don't own one but have had the opportunity to use Gen 1 night vision equipment. Gen 1 equipment typically allows you to see outlines and shades of contrast.

    You should have no real problem discerning a coyote from a bush. On the other hand you might be able to confuse a coyote and a dog. There just isn't enough detail with Gen 1.

    I haven't been lucky enough to use any Gen 2 or Gen 3 equipment.
