New To Me Colt Gunsite

Discussion in '1911 Forums' started by Bodyarmorguy, May 13, 2012.

  1. I worked a trade with a friend and fellow forum member. I possessed a mid 80's vintage custom gun that he wanted and he possessed this early to mid 90's custom from back when Gunsite still worked on guns other than students. It came with a set of wood grips with the Gunsite Raven, but I replaced with a set of my favorite VZ's for now.

  2. It's funny how high-end 1911's you buy from manufacturers today, still look just like this. Classic is classic.

Very nifty. I have a Series 80 GSP too and I like it a lot. Mildly tuned and modified.

Oh, and I totally dig the lanyard looped flat mainspring housing. Very M1911.

What he said, I could look at thing for hours! Congrats.

  7. This evening I replaced the mag release with a slightly extended checkered model of which the stainless color matched alot better. Yes, FN, I am a fgan of flat mainspring housing and lanyard loops. I may exchange this one however for the offering from Guncrafter which has the loop recessed into the housing.

Really? I didn't know such a thing exists. I will have to check it out. I dig lanyard loops. There's nothing like the sinking feeling you have when you hear your gun clattering down the side of a hill into a bunch of boulders below, even though it was resided in one of those secured field holsters.

  12. Whoa, careful the BG in the background! I see hoody, skittles, and an iced tea. Very dangerous.

  15. Rather than focus on the things that do not seem to be a threat, focus on the unknown threat of the left hand concealed in the pocket of the hoody. Students would be instructed to give strong, loud verbal commands to the target.

You do know I was making a funny though, right?
