Just picked up an older model, but new to me S&W 686-2 SS with a 6" barrel. I'm hoping to use it for deer hunting this year. I got to shoot it last evening and this thing is dead on at the inside range. I used 38spcl so I can't speak for the 357magnum end of it just yet. Can't wait to take it outside for longer distance shots. What an awesome gun. This is my first revolver and so far I'm loving it!

For your first revolver you picked a dandy. Congrats on the new 686!

    Congratulations, on a great choice!

I made the mistake of trading a 686+ and regretted it, the next day!
Finally, gave in, to the "cries of this homeless 686", to fill the void.

The S&W 686 in any configuration is a true classic. Excellent for SD or competition.
