New SR1911!!!

    Just got my new Ruger SR1911!!! I will be taking it out this weekend and using it. Any tips, tricks and inside knowledge from those who have them would be greatly appreciated. I am also curious about what magazines are best to accumulate because I will definitely want more than the two that come with it. Any help or insights would be welcomed. This gun feels so good in my hands my wife made me put it away. :wow:

    The Ruger mags work fine and you should get a 20% discount from the online store for registering your 1911 with them online that you can use to buy more mags.

    Got mine 4 months ago. Sweetest 1911 I have ever shot. Skip the mags and buy a reloader 'cause it is so sweet to shoot your either going bankrupt or reloading! :eek:

    Thanks for the input! Looks like I will be registering it and getting a new quick change set up for the Dillon!

    Congrtulations. I am not jealous, though, because I got my SR1911 last spring. It is a great pistol, and I know you will enjoy it.

    Congrats on a great pistol!

    I got one earlier this year and can't say enough good things about it. For the price range it's one of the best 1911s you can get your hands on.

    Mine is accurate, has a crisp (if a bit heavy) trigger, and is going on 1000 rounds without a hiccup. I'm sure you will experience similar results with yours.

    As for mags, I've run Wilson 47Ds, Ed Brown 7 and 8 rounders, the factory Ruger mags and even some VERY old GI 7 rounds mags through mine without a hitch. It seems to like just about anything one can use to feed it.

    Take it out and enjoy shooting the crap out of it!

    Congrats on you new Ruger. As far as mags go, can't go wrong with Wilson 47D's, ETM's or Chip McCormick Power Mags.

    Congradulations. I bought one last Friday (10-19-12) and with only a little over 100 rounds thru it I am very very pleased. I think it will be a dependable firearm.
    I use Wilson's "Ultima Lube" on the slide and put a few drops of Mobil One on the frame rails. It makes a slicker than snot combo and the slide glides with ease.
