Was at LGS looking to find out about P224, and was told Jan 2013 for the DAK models. He read it straight off the order sheet he had. Kinda bummed about that, because those were supposedly shipping in July/Aug.

Anyway, got to looking at P239, and they only had it in 9X19 and .40SW. I asked how long it would take to get it in .357SIG, and he didn't know. After lunch, I went by the bank to get some cash for that SAS Gen2 9X19, and the manager told me that SIG had some P239 SAS in .357SIG ready to go. Great news for me! I should have it in my paws sometime Friday.

This place is also a range, and while I was waiting for the water truck to back out (he had me blocked in,) I got to talking to one of the guys from the range area, and told him that I like to reload GAP. Anyway, he told me to hold on, because someone just threw out a bagful of it. He came back a few minutes later with a bag of GAP (looks like Gold Dot...) and didn't want any money for it. I'm debating pulling the bullets and trying to reload them, or just shoot 'em :)

Good day today, and I'll post the pics and report later this week when it gets here.

And here I thought you were about to break some news on a new pistol Sig was offering. Congrats on yours though.

I really like the weight/balance of this one a lot. Took it apart to degrease it with some denatured alcohol, and it's been lubed up with some TW25 and Mpro7.

I have a P239/357 myself and love it.
Seems like the guns was designed around the 357 sig round.
the extra heavy stainless slide absorbs the recoil really well
and has a light RSA for easy racking. My gun is laser accurate
and the standard 357 Sig is still running 125 gr ~1300 fps
    from the short barrel.

I put Big Dots, trigger job, SRT kit, Hogue rubber grips on mine.
Should get my triple ported Bar-Sto in a few weeks.

Here's my Sig P239/357 tip of the week
I have four of these and they are fantastic.
    Sig Sauer P239 .357SIG ONLY, 8RD magazine - Extended Capacity - SALE! MSRP: $49.00

I love the P239, its my off-duty CCW gun.

The P224 sounds interesting if its comparable to the G26 in size. It would make a good BUG when carrying my P226. I wonder if it will interchange mags with any full size sigs?

the 224 seems like a fail to me, i just dont see what role it plays, its trying to be the jack of all trades and its the master of nothing

    Thanks, guys!

Thank you for the TGS link--I'll be ordering a couple of these for the range and for spare carry. FYI, the SAS Gen2 model shipped with SRT. My dealer didn't even realize that until he was looking at the book/catalog when I placed the order last week.

I like the XS sights, and have several Glocks with those sights installed. However, the P239 came with SIGLites, so I'll use those until they burn out.

Not sure if the P226 mags you have will work, but newer P229 magazines will work, according to their product description:

"The P224 accepts newer P229 magazines, allowing users to carry a full-size spare magazine as a backup to the flush-fit P224 magazine. Law enforcement officers will appreciate not having to carry separate magazines solely for their backup guns."

I quoted that from the P224 Extreme product description.

I'm interested in the P224 but I wish they wouldn't take a full year after announcing it before they start shipping it. Lame.

Isn't that generally true of all smaller guns? Otherwise why wouldn't everyone just be using a 226?
