I am a new member who purchased a new gen 4 17 yesterday. I was planning on getting to the range this sat. but could not wait, so ran over there this afternoon after supper.

I put five full mags of 115 blazer brass through it without a single problem. Before I made the purchase I had been reading some of the posts here on glock talk about ejection issues with some gen 4's (BTTF).

I took note today of how the spent rounds ejected. All were over my right shoulder at about 4 o'clock and 2 ft from my right foot on the ground, except for one that landed on my right shoulder.

This seems to be a fairly new production gun. The test fire date on the envelope with test round is 7/12/12. Ser # start with "T"

Is this normal ejection for this gun. I have a LC9 that ejects about six to seven feet to my right at 3 o'clock.

    Thanks for any input.

    Welcome to the Forum.

And compared to my Gen3 17 and 19 your ejection is fine.

    Happy shooting!

Congrats, but don't read too much into the "ejection" problems.

Congrats! I own a gen 4 17 and it's been my favorite 17 thus far. The only other 17 model that's almost as "good" imo is the gen 3 17 rtf2.

Anything that doesn't bounce off of your forehead and leave a soot mark is "good ejection".

Good ejection for cheap ammo IMO. Hotter stuff should fly farther.

Where I was getting about 10% BTF (brass to face) with 115 gr USB, 124 gr Lawman reduced that %age to 2%.

My 180 gr USB were kicking out 6' to right from my G27. I think it all depends on the ammo.

Thanks. I am going to pickup some 9mm nato this afternoon and see how it runs. I will give results on that later.
