New Glock owner without a Glock!

Discussion in 'Introduction Forum' started by Bmrdrvr, Apr 13, 2013.

  1. According to the US Post office tracking site, my new Glock 23 Gen 4 made it to the mail sorting facility at 11:47 p.m. last night and should be delivered to my FFL today. He's only open til noon, so I hope he gets it and calls me before checking out for the day. I feel like a kid waiting, waiting, waiting for Santa to slide down the chimney. Can't take it!

My current EDC is a Sig Sauer P938, which I love, but I'm excited to own my first Glock in .40. It's a cold, windy day here in Iowa so I'm not sure if I will shoot today - have to find ammo too! But I'll let you know my impressions after I shoot. Looking forward to learning more about Glocks from all of you.

I'm sure you'll have it by Monday at the latest.

If it was me I would show up at the store and hang around until the mail came or the shop closed.

    :welcome: Enjoy GT....................
  8. I have to wait until Monday. Arggggghhhh!
  9. My Glock 23 arrived! It's a beauty. I couldn't wait to get home, take it apart and give it a cleaning. I hope to launch my first rounds through it on Saturday; I've got about 500 rounds of Remington and Winchester target ammo - should be fun! I'll let you know my impressions, but I can't imagine they will be anything but outstanding!

Wait a minute - I thought it was illegal to ship firearms by the US Mail, only UPS and FedEx. You can mail gun parts, but not guns.
  12. No, it's not illegal at all. Everything was done between FFLs. In fact, I bought the gun (new) in an auction on and they suggest using USPS and USPS money orders for payment. That way, if there's any funny business, the perp has got federal postal inspectors on his butt in a heartbeat. Now, waiting seven days for 2-3 day Priority Mail delivery, that's another story.
  13. To close the loop on this thread, I finally was able to get out and shoot my Glock yesterday. What a joy! As Hickok 45 says, Glocks just work! It feels so natural in my hand (small backstrap for me), shoots straight and runs ammo like cake frosting through a squeeze tube - smooth! I shot 50 each Remington and Winchester, FMJ 180 grain ball ammo. With other guns, occasionally, I have run into feed issues, either while shooting or when releasing the slide to catch the first round after a new mag was loaded. Not the Glock; not a single burp. In other words, Perfect!

Ah, I missed it was between FFLs. That is different, you or I cannot ship firearms by mail, per the USPS:

"Firearms – Only licensed manufacturers and dealers can mail or receive handguns. And even though unloaded rifles and shotguns are mailable, mailers must comply with all applicable regulations. "
