I am trying to decide between getting the gen 3 and gen 4 g26 for cc. I've looked at other posts and specs on both but still not sure which to get. I've heard about people having problems with the gen 4s, so that's whats put me off about getting one.

Is there a difference between the gen 3 and 4 in performance? If there isn't I don't think the backstraps alone really sell me on getting the gen4.

I carried a gen 3 26 for 10yrs as an off duty sold it thinking I was gonna retire.I just picked up a gen 4 and like it alot better than the gen 3.Fits my hand perfect with the large backstrap and I like the large mag release.I carry appendix IWB and the grip texture doesn't bother me.

I was just facing the same decision last Friday. I went with the Gen4 G26. I have small hands so the grip with no extra backstrap and the larger mag release was perfect for me. I also like the texture on the grip a little bit more.

Everything I read was that issues with the G26/G27 are far less than the larger framed models. I have only 110 rounds through my G26 so far and have not had problems. You will will pay less for the Gen3. In my neck of the woods the Gen4's are about $40 more. Did not really bother me since you get 3 mags with it instead of 2 with the Gen3.

My other Glocks are Gen3's and have been great as well so Gen3's are reliable. In the end you will just have to make that choice for yourself.

    Good luck and enjoy.

i got the gen4 last week as well. I have a little under 450 through it and it has been so great that i just ordered a gen4 g34 to go with it.

Maybe I will get the gen 4 then. I have a gen 3 g19 and know I can't go wrong with either.

My third generations Glock 26s ave been without issues, although they do predate the current problems. That said, from what I have read here the Glock 26s of either generation seem to be represented much less with the issues that some of the bigger 9mm versions.
