Sold a gun today and picked this up!

Just a 512 for range fun. I figured AA's are cheap so doesn't matter how fast I burn through them.

It is cowitnessed to my flip ups.

Can't wait to go have some fun!

I like the AA versions the best on rifles anyway.
Otherwise the cost of batteries becomes a PITA.

Same reason I stopped my Surefire flashlight passion. I'd rather just use cheap batteries. Plus, all the best deals on the 123's are online and I want the instant gratification.

Nice, you'll love the EOTech. Seems like the most popular are the CR123 battery versions, I chose the 512 for the same reason you did, AA batteries are easily obtainable and cheap. The lithium ones are what I like. I ran the "thumb" screw for awhile, I like the allen screw better.

How do you like the MATECH buis? I have yet to try mine, I haven't decided on what flip-up front sight I want yet, so I haven't used it.

I like it a lot. I can shoot groups under an inch at 50 yards with them, which is pretty good for me. They seem plenty sturdy too.

I love mine and strapped it to a Larue QD mount.

Cool, cool, yeah I agree about the sturdy part. How about the yardage adjustments? Very close to what it says?

Nice, I have a 512 on layaway at my LGS. Was gonna go with an Aimpoint, but i like the way the Eotech is setup better.
    Congrats and enjoy!

To be honest, I've only taken it out to 100 yards. I zeroed it at 50 and everything seems to be right. I did have to make a LOT of adjustments to the front sight to get it where I wanted, but once there it has been great.

This seems like a valid reason to consider Aimpoint optics. Batteries that last YEARS, even if left on the entire time. Hell you could get 10 of them up front an have almost a lifetime's worth.

I used Aimpoints a lot in the military. Although I like them, I prefer the reticle and field of view that the Eotech has more. If they could somehow merge the two, I'd be in heaven!

Man I am jealous. Just kidding.
I finally broke down and ordered a 512 last week from ******. Guess what? On back order. Bummer.

Congrats on getting yours. I used my brothers last week
    and they are awesome.

Nice rifle. What kind of strap is that?

Thanks. The strap is just a standard nylon sling that comes with Colts. Nothing fancy, but it works. I will eventually get around to getting a nicer one as soon as I can wrap my head around spending $30 on another mount. I'd like to move the sling swivel back near the receiver. Until then, I will stick with stock as I can still use it to good effect.

This is my eotech. It was given to me by a veteran of the Iraq war, a Sgt. in the USMC. He carried it on his second tour.

I buy my 123 batteries in bulk. Comes out to less than a $1 each. I use them in my eotech, flashlights, taclights, lightsabers, etc.

They actually have 3.0V rechargeable batteries that I've been trying out in my TLR-1 with good results.

I burn through batteries at work so I hope the rechargeables will last, if not, $1/batt isn't bad. I sell to my coworkers for $2/batt. instant profit. else it's $13 for two batts at Walmart for them.

Dunno about battery life issues with Eotechs. I've gone at least a year without changing batteries, and have never had any issues. My current batteries are at least a year old, if not more.
