    Toddnjoy,

Yes, we have pictures to show the "look". The picture below is a picture that includes an old 2nd Generation receiver, LW slide, JPoint sight, CARVER 3 Port Comp and the CARVER Magwell. As you will notice the contour of the slide is maintained and a pocket below the muzzle will allow an extened guiderod to insert. If you have any questions, please let me know:

No. The threading of the Comp was done so that when it's aligned, as you can see with the contour of the slide, the comp is actually about .002" from the end of the slide. The slide never touches the compensator.

Our Compensators are CNC'd from high grade aluminum. Installation is easy, using loctite. If you ever need to replace the compensator, heating the comp with a propane torch for about 5 seconds to release the loctite, is all that's necessary: no damage to your barrel, comp or Glock.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks for asking,
    Bobby

    Hey Bob,

I'm in the process of building a Major Nine using a Lone Wolf 17L barrel, I was wondering which of your comps you would recommend for that?

    Best regard,

    Fred

    Hello Fred,
Thanks for your inquiry!!! I always recommend our very popular 4 Port Comp with 3 bleeder holes on each side for 9 Major projects but since you are planning to use a 17L barrel and slide, I'm going to recommend the CARVER Custom 3 Port Compensator with 2 bleeder holes on each side. Why? Because the weight of your longer slide and longer barrel will slow down your barrel's unlocking time. When using a compensator, you will want to minimize the extra weight on the end, so the 3 Port Comp would be my recommendation.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. By the way, when you get your project completed, please post your end product here to show us how good it looks.

If you don't have one, you may want to consider our Stainless Steel Magwell with a brass insert to add weight to the rear of your G17L to help the balance.

    Regards,
    Bobby

    Hey Bobby,

Thanks for the info. I have another question. I got into a bit of a conundrum with barrels and comps. At first I was going to use a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel in a Glock 24C slide with a Lone wolf Major Nine Comp.

Although after ordering that I realized, that comp won't fit on that barrel. So, I decided to go with a 17L LWD barrel in my regular G17 Slide. I have a regular G17 to start with. Although I really wanted to use the long slide and the heavy 40-9 conversion barrel.

After some more thought, I decided to stick with the 40-9 conversion barrel and use one of your comps, which brings me to my question. What would be the functional difference between your three and four port comps besides weight?

    Best regards,

    Fred

    Hello Fred,
If you have a 17L Lonewolf barrel (threaded), you may want to use that setup with one of our comps. The weight and the efficiencies from the comp should make a great combination.

The difference between our 3 port and our 4 port is "efficiency". We recommend the 4 port comp for 9 Major loads. Though it works great with target loads, it really performs with more efficiency with the major loads. The 4 port compensator is about 1/4 inch longer than the 3 port as well. We have found that our bleeder ports, assist in keeping your comp from accumulating the carbon "blast' buildup.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Bobby

    Hello BigMatt,
We appreciate your interest in our products. Our "very popular" CARVER Custom Magwell is available in either black or silver anodized. We have magwells for G17, G19 and G21 Glock frames, including the .40 and .357 models. Our aluminum magwells sell for $79.99.

We currently do not offer a G17L combo but we do have a combo deal for the JPoint. You can find it here http://web.iwebcenters.com/bbenterprise/item178614.ctlg

If you haven't seen one of the "new" C-More STS sights, you might want to look at one of them. In my opinion, the STS is a better sight because it has a glass window, adjustable intensity and the adjustments are better. I've been a JPoint fan for a long time and still use one but my tests with the STS have been very positive.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks and "Have fun shooting"
    Bobby

    Hi Bobby,

I'm a bit new to the community and just found this thread yesterday. I wanted to see if your compensators required the same reduced power recoil spring and guide-rod change that LW compensators do. I'm new to the modification of firearms and I want to see what my options are before I start buying go-fast parts. I was originally considering a LW threaded barrel and compensator, but then realized that was a $200+ endevor..then I looked at the LW 2 port extended barrel and saw that it was about $100 cheaper than the alternative. Now that I'm seeing your kit, i'm interested, but I want to know if you need extra equipment to run the LW barrel and your compensator.

    Hello Theskip,

Thank you for inquiring about our CARVER Custom Compensators. Our 3 port compensator works very efficiently with the Lonewolf threaded 9MM barrels. In fact, it works so efficient that you will need to use a reduced power recoil spring to allow the slide to function properly. Whether you use a captured recoil guiderod or a noncaptured, we recommend the use of a recoil spring from a 10lb to 12lb resistance.

Your stock Glock recoil spring for a G17 is a 17lb recoil spring. The recoil spring resistance of your Glock is directly proportional to the power of your ammunition used. For example, if you are using light target loads with your stock barrel and recoil spring, it's very possible that your Glock will not function properly. The stock Glock was designed to use factory or equivalent ammunition.

When you use a compensator of any brand or style, slight changes to the configuration of the Glock are necessary. In this case, changing the recoil spring. Why? Because any effective compensator exhausts pressurized gases out of their ports creating a counter resistance, thus reducing the muzzle rise and some felt recoil. Since the Glock utilizes what is called a "blow back" system, it cycles the slide from the pressure created when it's fired. If you exhaust some of the gases either from ports on the end of the barrel or within the barrel, the "blow back" is reduced. This condition is countered by using a reduced power recoil spring.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    Thank you,
    Bobby Carver

    Hi Bobby,

I posted a ridiculous question. And with some thought, I realized how stupid it was!

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions!

Finally, something nice looking in .40 :)

i was thinking about getting a barrel comp combination for my duty G21SF so off duty i could thread the comp on and use lead bullets for practice then on duty id just swap barrels back or would it work the same if i just removed the comp for duty use. also do you have any thread covers for such a situation.
