I received my new 870P (24449) with the parkerized finish. It operates and shoots as well as my other 870s, but I noticed that the fore-end tube assembly/action bars were the standard blue finish and the lettering on the receiver was not as deep as the others either. Just wondering if that's the way they usually come from the factory now.

Welcome to the 870P Club, aka the Cool Kids Club!

Posting a pic would be the best way to answer your question although without with seeing it, that dark blue sounds out of place. Is it truly dark blue or is that oil on the bars that have given them a dark appearance?

BTW, in the Cook Kids Club we eat bacon whenever we want.

My Parkerized 870Ps at work are as you describe. Action bars are a smooth black.

I can't remember how deep the letters on the receiver are, sorry.

Since they only make one forend tube assembly for the 12ga 870, every 870 ( escept marine) comes with the same one as did your 870P. It is a black oxcide finish. They do not make a blued forend tube assembly.

The Engraving depth veries at times but always meets ATF requirments.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

By the time you get 2-300 rounds through it, a good deal of the bluing on the fore end, will be worn off.
