Trying out the Pachmayr American Legends with the finger grooves.

They feel great, but won't know the facts until I go to the range Saturday. How they shoot is more important to me than how they look, that's for sure.

  2. Interesting.

I'm not a big fan of rubber grips of a carry gun, but for the range they can be really nice.

Put 150 rnds downrange this morning with these big, honkin' Hogue wraparounds.

    I like'em...consistently.

i feel the same about not liking rubber on a carry gun. To me there much like the hogue's for Sigs. They feel great at the range but are completely impractical for carry. Throw a set of VZ's or cocobolo's on it and be done with it.

    I agree.

That's why they're on my range gun.

touche! I just figured on it being a carry gun because its a commander. Should have asked what your purpose was first i guess. My bad

I like the rubber grips. I like wood grips. Rubber and wood doesn't do it for me.

  13. The only thing I don't like about the rubber grips on a carry gun is the fact that they "cling" to the clothing that is over them.
Other than that they feel great.
The Hogues actually fit my hands and give me a very good one handed grip.

I tend to like the feel of checkering better, but many do shoot better with rubber grips.

I think it's a matter of hand size and shape to me.

Not every factory grip feels "natural" to me.

Having said that, the consensus among accomplished competition shooters is I should practice more with the factory stocks and adapt to them rather than looking for something to give me a more consistent grip.

Who am I to question them?

They've been right about everything else so far.
