So I am requesting all the information as possible on this topic. I am currently in college and have the fortune of living with my grandparents. Back in October we found out that my grandfather has esophageal cancer and was recently moved to Stage 4. He bought me my first pistol and I find guns to be the easiest bond with him. He has a Kimber Eclipse Pro II already and enjoys it alot. He had always told me he wanted one more and tonight he said he the only caliber he was missing was a .40. He would like to get a Kimber in a .40cal but I told him there may be better selections for this choice. Are there any good quality .40cal models for a 1911 or should I direct him towards some other platform?

I never cared for that caliber in the 1911 platform, to be honest.

That said, how about an STI Trojan?

Sorry to hear about your grandfather as well.

That sort of thing is never easy and especially tough during the holidays.

Sorry to hear about your GF.

    Outside of going custom.....

    STI Trojan
    Springfield EMP

You might find a used Kimber, Colt or Springer in .40 but they are rare.

I know most of your rules on 1911's but I am unsure if the ballistics of a .40 make it hard to properly work a 1911 or whats the major issue? :dunno:

Cancer SUCKS. I know firsthand. Thoughts and prayers for your grandfather and family.

    If I was looking at a .40 1911, I'd go STI Trojan.

We found out last month that my mom's pancreatic cancer has spread to her liver and pelvic lymph nodes, so surgery is no longer an option. The Drs are giving her 6 months, but honestly it will be less...more like 3-4. Obviously, this has been a rough holiday season.

    Hokie,

I haven't posted about your situation.....just because I couldn't think of anything worth a damn to say.

I lost my uncle last Christmas to bone cancer.....so I know in a way what you are going through. If it wasn't for Hospice I would have lost my mind.

    God bless.

    Thanks man.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with a Trojan in any caliber.
