Need some information

Discussion in 'General Firearms Forum' started by SpeedyG17, Jul 22, 2012.

  1. I need some help finding some information on a rifle I now own. I inherited a Ruger Mini 14 184 series and I am trying to find out as much about it as I can. I know that there are some issues with accuracy and what not but I can not find anything on this series exclusively. I am just now getting really interested in shooting sports and I want to know as much about the firearms that I own as possible and any help that y'all can offer me would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few pictures of said Mini 14. Sorry for the quality, I am a college student and gas, bike parts, and ammo mean more to me than a camera.

The design was plagued from the outset with a flawed "self cleaning" gas system, poor quality materials, made as cheaply as possible with a general lack of attention to detail. Ruger finally fixed the Mini's in 2008. They're not too bad now.

Since Ruger has reintroduced the AC556 style Mini's, the value on the old folders has dropped to around $800.
