I have a little argument going here that I need a tie-breaker on. Friend wants to go get one of those 5 ft diameter plastic wading pools and bring it home on top of a car. It's round and there isn't really a good way to tie it down. Friend says two people, one on each side of the car can hold it down to the roof. Store to delivery point is just a couple miles, and mostly 25 mph but there is a short stretch that is 35 mph. To make it worse, we have a 10-20 mph wind today. I say no way its possible, what do y'all say?

Why would you even argue this?

This is a "here watch this..." moment. Let it happen.

I'm with Rabbi. Actually I would tell them "no problem, it will work fine" and then watch it go downhill.

Heck, four doors (potentially) means at least two more hands to help. If you have more friends. But maybe they could just break the tie for you.

Of course you can do it. It's not a wing that's going to take off going less than 25 mph.

BTW: Just because its round doesn't mean you can't tie it down. Throw some cord over it and tie it to the car, then duct tape the cord to the pool to keep it from slipping off. Hang on to it and go slow.

Most everything is a foil. All that is needed is the right application of velocity.

The problem is that they want me to drive with my car. If it was their car, I'd go along with it and video it with my phone from far enough back. I have provided the responses here and convinced them that its a bad idea. Thanks for the help guys!

So its YOUR car and they can decide? How does that work?

Tell them you are not only worried about it flying away but damage to your paint. NO thanks. Have them find someone with a van/truck.

It actually does not sound bad for doing it (depending on car, people) You don't have to go 5mph over speed limit. You can actually go BELOW speed limit (esp if no traffic)

That sounds like a GREAT idea. To make it even better, get your fattest friend to sit in the pool while you drive.

They are in a pool. Beer can't go anywhere. It's fine as long as nobody takes a leak.

Nobody made any decision for me. I was never gonna do it!

If the car got a little scratch, it wouldn't matter. You could put a couple towels down first, but like I said...... I was never gonna do it anyway!

Thanks, but I already know the speed limit is the maximum, not the minimum.

    Put it on your roof.
    Fill it with water.
    Drive home.
    You'll be fine.

If the store is only a couple miles away, tell them to walk.

Didn't a police officer in Florida try something similar with their cruiser and a mattress?
