Does anybody have this data?
Hornady manual? Check the Hodgdon site, they use a FMJ that is the same profile. As always, OAL will be gun & bullet specific.
According to my Hornaday #8 book, start is 5.0gr, max is 5.7gr minimum OAL 1.230"
Thanks WeeWilly. Thats what I was looking for.
Will be getting a new Hornady book.
I load the Hornady 230 FMJ with 5.2 grains 231 and a OAL of 1.260.
Works for me.
Just a note, most guns will NOT take the XTP loaded much past 1.240", but OAL is ALWAYS gun & bullet specific.
Excellent point. The shoulder break on the XTP is pretty sharp, so unless you have enough freebore, you need to seat it deep enough for that shoulder break to stay clear of the lands or the gun may not go into battery.
