Need good plce to stay overnight in Atlanta/Macon area?

    I will be traveling to the Alanta/Macon Ga area this weekend and need a nice hotel/motel to stay at? Can any of you in this area recommend a nice area or place that the family and I could stay at for a night that is not in a bad part of town? Thanks E...

    There's a good bit of retail/restaurants/hotels in Macon, I think at the 169 exit. Should be a Hampton Inn there.

    There's a Logan's (Best steaks IMO), Outback, Five Guys, Carraba's, etc.

    If you have never ate at Five Guys before, you must do so! They are inexpensive and the food is great.

    If your going to stay in Macon, there is a Hilton Gardens Inn, here at the Mercer university campus. The surrounding area is crap, but the Hotel has been no problem for the year it has been open, as it is right at the interstate Mercer University drive exit on I75. But, On I475, the Macon by-pass, there are some hotels at the Zebulon Road exit, and there are several hotels with chain restaurants at the Tom Hill Sr. Exit on I75 That area is mostly commercial, not a lot of neighborhood to have a bad atmosphere.
