My Volvo

    Hey guys I got a 760 Turbo 1990 today in the morning I noticed that it was leaking pretty good a solid stream from what looked to be the heatercore. Anyhow I did smell coolant and am pretty sure it is the heatercore.

    How hard of a job is it for your average shade tree mechanic, and is their any specail equipment needed for it.

    I had this happen on another car and bypassed the heatercore, but afterwards it ran hotter than previously.

    Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Thanks Rob, looks like a major hystrectomy. I'll have to take it in to a shop tomorrow .

    There used to be a conversion out on the market to drop a 302 Ford HO and tranny into the 760 Volvos. I recall that the rear end was stout enough to handle the increased torque on the street, and it made the Volvo station wagon that was featured run pretty quick. The little 5.0 HO was a pretty tough little motor.

    Yup I know a guy who has a Chevy short block V8 in a Volvo. BTW it turned out to be the hoses to the heatercore control valve.
