I scored a 1991 P228 DAO from a friend at work (I carried one for 12 years). The trigger is way too heavy, but that can be remedied. I like the Bar/Dot sights. Now, for some Hogue extreme grips and a refinishing job.

Now THAT is a classic Sig, not the railed two tone crap they sell today.

Will do. I've replaced the recoil spring and the mainspring. I put in a 19lbs. mainspring, and the trigger is much better.

Now, I'm waiting for the Hogue extreme grips.

Finally got around to snapping some pics. The DAK Hogue G-10 grips eliminate the decoker hump, and they feel thinner as well. The checkering is sharp. I may lightly sand it down.

Good choice, I like the Hogue grips G-10 checkered.
Here is mine DAO P220, DAO makes a great carry gun, I still love my 1911, The P228 in DAO must be one sweet shooter.

It is very nice and very safe. Like a good revolver DA pull. I did put a lighter mainspring on and an updated trigger bar spring.

    I've got a 1998 pre-stainless, factory nickel two tone P220.
    Added:
    1) 5.10" dual ported Storm Lake barrel
    2) XS 24/7 Express Big Dot Sights
    3) BedAir Stainless guide rod
    4) Hogue wrap around rubber finger grove grips
    5) SRT kit
    6) Professional trigger job

    It's a DA/SA and the DA is a glassy 8.5 lbs.

My old cop P228's saga continues......

I bought the parts to convert her from DAO to DA/SA and I bought a P229 E2 grip conversion kit at Top Gun Supply. The trick with the old P228 is that you have to switch to the newer hammer strut and mainspring with the plastic seat, then you can do the grip conversion. I also got a lighter Wolff 18lbs mainspring.

    This is the end result.

The pic does not do it justice. The old folded carbon slide is svelte compared to the P229 slide and the grip is so reduced (plus a much improved new style short trigger) that the P228 now feels pretty close to my old P225. The trigger pull is about 8lbs with the new mainspring.

I should get the slide and barrel refinished with a shiny black finish. Any suggestions on that Sig fans?
