After almost two weeks of interminable waiting, my LM 38 Super arrived today. :woohoo: This gun is even better than I expected. Super smooth, very tight, and with nearly every feature you could possibly want. This thing oozes quality. It was nearly dark by the the time I got it home, so I only got to run a few magazines through it today, but it was enough to leave me very impressed.

It set me back about $2500, but I figure with the lack of availability of LMs in my favorite caliber, I'd better just grab this one. Besides, I don't know if there is a better 1911 at that price, there certainly isn't one I wanted more.

I'll post some very mediocre pictures tonight, I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow in the daylight.

Meh, it's ok...but for that money, I'd have gotten 5 Glocks.

Congrats on one of the finest 1911s ever built.

I absolutely love the RRA Limited Match. I feel its one of the best shooting, most well appointed, cleanest, smoothest, tightest, most beautiful 1911s I've ever owned or even seen, for that matter. Its a downright crime that these guns aren't built anymore.

It sounds like your first impressions are similar.

By the way, you got yours at a great price, because they're commanding some high prices on the used market.

    Not many were made. :crying:

I totally agree Brian, this is one great 1911. They were certainly a steal at the price originally offered. It's a shame that these will probably never be made again.

What is really surprising is how well it fits my hands, and I think I've heard you say the same thing about yours. The no radius front strap and high cut grip safety are great. I know I've never held a gun that felt better. Seriously Brian, thanks for turning me on to this model.:wavey:

    No problem.

I'm glad someone had the opportunity to pick up one of these awesome pistols.

...and, yes, the lack of any radius under the trigger guard does help it fit your hands very well.

A dealer who has ordered a lot of RRA 1911s got it for me. He said it has just been sitting at RRA for quite a while, so I snatched it up.

    Super nice pistola. Congrats.

Do you roll your own or buy your ammo? I was looking at .38 super and the prices seem a little on the high side these days.

Thanks. I'm not a reloader. I usually buy my ammo at local gun shows, they often have some decent prices, $20 a box, competitive with 45 ACP anyway. 45 ACP is $18 at my local Wal-Mart. I've seen better prices online, I might start buying there.
