I recently won a bid on this 1975 detective special in Nickel. It wears Pachs now but I am hunting for some nice wood grips for it. There were around 300 views but only a couple of bidders. I ended up with a very nice DS. Went thru the revolver timing checks and all appears to be good. Polished it up and took a few quick pics to show off. Plan to shoot it some today.

Several years ago I passed on a chance to buy a nice older model nickel plated Detective Special at an estate sale for $250.00 I reasoned that I just did not need another snub nosed revolver. Now I think what a dummy!!!!!

I usually don't like nickel but this is one gorgeous gun. Congrats.

I took the DS snubbie out to the range today. I shot about 2/3 of a box of 158 gr roundnose thru it. Functioned great and I was able to hold a group of about 3" from 21'. The recoil with the Pachs was managable, but I want to try it with the wood grips as well. I used to have one with the stock wood grips on it and I don't recall the recoil being as bad as today. It could be the ammo I guess. I don't remember what ammo I used in the other one. Overall I was pleased with the Colt. I even carried it around some in a IWB today and was pretty comfortable with it. Besides its pretty!

We all have had those moments. I can think of a couple involving a Colt Diamondback and a snubbie Python.:crying:

I have yet to shoot any Colt but I'm patiently awaiting the day. Congrats and enjoy.

Yes, I do have the DSII in stainless steel but it ain't the same as a nickel plated gun.
