My mag revolvers out for some shots

Discussion in 'General Firearms Forum' started by ithaca_deerslayer, Feb 18, 2012.

  1. Berto inspired me to drag out my Dan Wesson .44 mag (Win 240gr) 8" barrel, and Ruger GP100 .357 mag (Hornady 140gr).

25 yards, standing, two-handed, single-action, 5-shot groups. Nothing great, I think Berto can outshoot me. On average, about 4" groups. I have potetential with the .357 but really blew the last shot to open that group up to 4". Oh well, there's always next time :)

    Nice. Looks like fun.
I've never seen even a single Dan Wesson revolver around.

I think a GP100 is a handy gun. It can handle the toughest mag loads out there. The stuff on the shelf at Walmart is a sad representation of what the .357 is capable of.

Looks like good shooting to me. What kind of Hornady rounds were you shooting? SD loads or hunting loads. A 6" GP100 should calm even the stoutest loads.
  4. They are the 140gr Leverlution, with the plastic red tips, designed for deer :). I got 3 of those shots really close together, as the gun likes them :)
