My MK4 GTI 1.8t has treated me well for 237,000 miles. I ran into my first problem.

My car idles fine but no throttle response at all.

I checked and redid my timing belt. Everything's new and dead on. New pedal position sensor. New throttle body, new ECU with immobilizer defeat, New o2 sensors. Complete tuneup. Checked all wiring and I can't figure this car out! I think my love to the Audi/VW is almost over with!

It would probably be cheaper to have it professionally diagnosed then replacing every part.

237K on a 1.8T and you ran into your first problem? I call BS. If you really hit your first problem at 237K, you should love VW forever.

What are the codes and what do you mean by no throttle response?

Get a VAG or a Actron and join vwvortex.com if you haven't already.

Lots of options like O2 sensor frying the ECM or bad throttle position sensor, but codes are the big thing.

    One suggestion:

Replace the O2 sensor (or sensors if it has more than one).
A failing O2 sensor will degrade gradually over time with high mileage and can easily cause driveability problems before it becomes degraded enough to cause the check-engine lamp to illuminate.

    Also, use this
    http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?catid=8&iid=269&loc=show

An engine with that mileage WILL have gummy deposits on/in the injectors that can cause driveability problems when the problem becomes severe enough. This product will clean the injectors and will help remove carbon deposits in the cylinders.
If enough carbon builds up it can cause serious pre-detonation ("ping", or "cylinder-knock") and that will cause the engine computer to retard the timing, which will cause low power and poor throttle-response.

You can use this fuel-system cleaner in very high concentration and it won't cause any harm.
If necesary use several bottles in consequtive tankfulls of fuel.
This fuel system additive has worked very well for me.

237k on a VW with no problems? Are you sure your wife didn't just replace your car with an identical looking one 8 times without you noticing?

No major problems. Just maintenance. I did the timing belt 5 times. Original turbo, original engine, original head. 5 speed trans is original.

Sounds like a great ownership experience. Why are you ready to give up on VW/Audi after that?

I have 2 other VW's and when they do break its always silly dumb things. Like window falls into the door. Recalls on a lot of things. Nothing serious but many little things.
